You’d have to be very desperate or very stupid to do drugs in Thailand. After all, the warnings couldn’t be any clearer, the penalties any tougher. But still Australians keep getting caught. Still, they’re shocked when they find themselves in some of the world’s most appalling, most brutal jails like the notorious Bangkok Hilton. In a way, though, they’re the lucky ones. Thailand’s a place where when they say “zero tolerance”, they mean it … where more than 2000 drug traffickers were killed on the streets last year.

Ian will be presenting ” Tails from the Cybercrime Battlefield” The talk will cover:
– The difference between an affiliated and a non-affiliated cyber attacker
– The difference between an overt and a covert attack
– Do criminal indictments identify key attack indicators and mitigations?
– Is the insider threat more dangerous than external attackers?
– Can cyber-criminal indictments predict the future of cyber-crime?

This is his latest research for a book his is writing on cyber criminals targeting Small & Medium Enterprises in the past, present, and future.

Speaker Bio:
Ian Trump, CD, CEH, CNDA, CPM, BA is an ITIL certified IT professional with 20 years of experience in
IT security and information technology. From 1989 to 1992, Ian served with the Canadian Forces
(CF), Military Intelligence Branch; in 2002, he joined the CF Military Police Reserves and retired as a
Public Affairs Officer in 2013. Ian previously managed IT projects at the Canadian Museum of Human
Rights and is currently Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for Octopi Managed Services Inc. & Octopi
Research Lab (UK) Ltd.
As a CTO for a Managed Service Provider (MSP) in Canada and a cyber threat research lab in the UK,
Ian has deep experience with the threats facing small, medium and enterprise businesses. His
research and experience has made him a sought-after cyber security consultant specializing in cyber
threat intelligence programs for small, medium and enterprise organizations. In recognition of his
contribution to IT security, Ian has been named as an executive council member of the CompTIA IT
Security Community.
